Seven years ago, singer and budding songwriter Zevi Weinstock, started his recording journey with the release of his first single Shir Shel Shevach with the help of his friend Ari Cukier. After releasing his sixth this past May, Zevi came to the conclusion that he would release an album compiling all of his previously released songs and one last new one.
The album titled Shirei Shel Shevach is dedicated to Zevi’s father, Shevach (Shavy) Weinstock. The album features timely compositions written by Zevi Weinstock. Zevi never realized he was a composer when he was younger. He just started making up tunes in his head. At the age of seventeen, his father taught him to play guitar and he immediately fell in love with it. That year as he started getting better at playing guitar, he would write his first song. While in Yeshiva in Israel, he borrowed his friend’s guitar and really started writing. However, it wasn’t until he sent home some demos to his parents in America for feedback, that he really understood how much they loved his songs. His father couldn’t contain his excitement; it was a turning point for him.
Zevi’s father released one album during his lifetime. The album featured one English song titled “Oh My Children.” It discussed a time when the entire world would unite as one in the times of Moshiach. Just as his father had done all those years ago, Zevi decided to also write an English song about the coming of Moshiach. Though he started writing this song many years ago, it wasn’t until recently, when he was in Israel, that he decided he would complete it and release it to the world. This final song was the last for the album and is titled “Hold On.”
