This song was written during his time in the Reserves. The song was born and created during and for these days. The understanding is that in the end, we are all G-d’s children and only He is the answer to all our questions.
For a while we had a feeling that something big was going to happen. We will win over the evil. After such heartbreak and the terrible tragedy, Mashiach surely has to come. We will surely see the end soon. However, the road is still long and not in sight yet. Mati Shriki says, “The only thing to give me strength is to sing to HaShem. Have faith in Him. Our reality is very surprising and unexpected, both on a personal level as well as on a national level. There are many questions, tension, and disagreements. No one really know what the answer is to everything. The people of Israel are above nature, the answer to all this is definitely above the regular and nature. I feel that the only way out is through HaShem. Therefore, I have to sing to Him and pray to Him to receive and answer to all our questions.”
Since Simchas Torah, Shriki has been in the Reserves in uniform, where all these questions and ideas keep coming back to him.
His current reality is was pushed him to formulate his thoughts and put them out there in his song called Shar L’Elokim, along with a idea that was filmed in every day reality in the army.
