Dudi Frishman - Zikaron Yishan Acapella

Dudi Frishman – Zikaron Yishan Acapella

Two years after publishing the song “Zikaron Yishan,” based Reb Shlomo Carlebach’s story “the Holy Hunchback”, on the eve of Holocaust Remembrance Day, singer Dudi Frishman releases the vocal version of the song. In collaboration with the acapella artist, Yonathan Stern.

In the story, Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach describes his encounter with a street cleaner in Tel Aviv, or as he called him “the Holy Hunchback.” The same cleaner tells R. Shlomo about his painful life, the hardships he suffered in the Holocaust, and one sentence he heard in his childhood when he was on Shabbos at the Rebbe’s shul in Piascensa, a sentence that held him in horror and gave him the power to go through the crises.

The hunchback describes the status of the Rebbe in Piascensa with all the children around him like the maalachim, and the Rebbe stops everything and turns to the children and says to them: “Children, dear children! The greatest thing is to do good to someone else.” He was another child when he was sent to the labor camp (since he had a large body structure), and just before he was about to run into the fence in despair he heard the Rebbe’s voice inside his head: “Dear children! The greatest thing is to do good to someone else.”

“This special story is a commemoration of the triumph of Jews, who, despite what they went through, simply wanted to be good, to do good. Frishman says.
